About us

Let us tell you our story

Who is behind Serralet de Segària?

Our adventure began in 1941, when our grandfather bought his first beehives from a good friend, thus entering the wonderful world of beekeeping.

During the early years, the hives were always at home, so depending on the year and the flowering season, orange blossom honey or flower honey could be harvested. At that time, our grandfather could only offer his honey to the villagers, acquaintances or relatives.

Years later, when transhumance began and he was able to travel to places such as Teruel, Cuenca, Albacete and Seville, honey production increased and he began to sell honey wholesale.

Our father, who grew up surrounded by bees, decided to get involved in beekeeping too. It was then, in 1989, that we can start talking about the second generation.

Little by little, they increased the number of hives and, together, continued to move them around different parts of Spain to where the thyme, sunflowers or heather were in bloom, which gave them the opportunity to discover new places and enjoy experiences that will stay with them forever.

My brother and I couldn’t abandon the family tradition, so we decided to commit ourselves once again to preserving the bees and their honey. We are now the third generation to be part of this family project, which we carry out with care, affection and great enthusiasm.

Now, we have taken the step of creating this little online corner so that everyone, regardless of where they are, can try our natural honey made using traditional methods, just as we have been doing all our lives.

Our hives have grown and continue to live in the heart of the Sierra de Segaria, located in the Marina Alta region. But this is not their only home, because, as you have seen, we move them around depending on the different flowering seasons in Spain.

Bees also travel in their own way: when worker bees find their food sources (i.e., flowers), they perform a dance to communicate with the rest of the hive and indicate their location. These journeys and dances are part of our essence and, as a result, had to be reflected in our logo.

The world of bees is full of curiosities and surprises, and we want to share them with you, as there is still much to discover. If you join us, you will be part of an adventure that has only just begun.

Now, we welcome you to El Serralet de Segària, our little sweet paradise, which is now yours too.
